Jeannie Thompson

August 25, 1949 — March 31, 2025

Henderson, Nevada

Effie Jean "Jeannie" Thompson, 75, passed away on March 31, 2025, in Henderson, Nevada. She was born on August 25, 1949, in Caraway, Arkansas, and grew up in Modesto, California, as the youngest of seven children.

As a proud military wife for nearly three decades, Jeannie moved often, raising her three children the U.S. and overseas, including cherished years in Bitburg, Germany. These travels become some of the most treasured memories for her family, and Jeannie kept tokens from those years close to her heart. No matter where she lived, she made each place feel like home with a knack for crafting, rearranging furniture (sometimes daily), and making something beautiful out of whatever was on hand.

Throughout her life, Jeannie worked in various roles and was known for her creativity, quick wit, and unmistakable personality. She had a deep love for sewing, crocheting, and crafting, always finding a way to fix something with her own two hands. Her joyful nature and signature birthday songs will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

In her later years, Jeannie enjoyed a quieter life at home with her beloved dog. Tinker, often watching Westerns, working on crafts, and staying connected to the people she loved. She appreciated the steady support of her family during that time, especially her oldest daughter Michele, who was close by and helped ensure she could continue enjoying the routines and simple pleasures that brought her joy, whether it was dinner and a movie or a visit to the Rainbow Club.

She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will carry her spirit forward: her children, Michele Spininger, Beverly Boulter, and Rick Thompson Jr., her grandsons, John Boulter, Jake Thompson, Mikey Spininger, and her granddaughter, Peyton Thompson, who all affectionately called her "Nana", a title she cherished with all her heart. She is also survived by her sisters, Katherine "Rean" Miller, and June Newsome; her brother Odie Stroud, and extended family who were part of her life and memories.

The family of Jeannie Thompson wishes to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who supported her with care, compassion, and kindness over the years. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
