"In Loving Memory of Tom "Poppy" Copp.
Tacoma, Washington locals will remember the hometown hero "Tommy", who was welcomed home with posters and celebration after serving in the Vietnam War. His family will remember him as "Poppy", the kind grandpa who always made sure his many grandkids had fun in the pool. Tom would be so proud to tell you that he worked his way through decades in the copier industry, where he was known as "Top Gun", eventually becoming VP of Service. He wouldn't tell you that he had exemplary service record in the Army and survived 75 missions as a helicopter door gunner. But he'd be the first to say, 'Have a nice trip? See ya next fall!" if you ever stumbled in front of him.
Tom proudly sang in the choir and was a member of a tight-knit small group. He also loved golfing, fishing, and, for a time, was really into his Harley. Tom went to be with Jesus on February 12, 2025, in the comfort of his own home, just as he wished. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanne; his daughters Jeni, Hilary, and Stephanie; his son in law, Mike; as well as 11 grandchildren, a grandson in law, a granddaughter in law, and 2 great grandchildren.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God's is the strength of my heart and my portion forever' Psalm 73:26"
